DO YOU KNOW ALAN TURNEY?

MARTIN IS TRYING TO FIND HIS FATHER

Syd
we spoke this morning regarding me looking for my father who lived in south harrow and used to go to school at roxeth manor.
his name is Alan Turney and would be between 60 and 64, my mothers name is/was Jennifer wain but unsure if she went to the same school. I believe he became a mechanic after leaving school. I don't have any more information than that apart from I think I may have found him via facebook and ha may now live in high Wycombe, I have messaged him but with no reply.
I don't know where to start looking and you are pretty much my first port of call so any information that you could find out for me would be much appreciated.
Thank you
Martin Bailey

team
Hi Syd
Never did have any school photos and recently had this foto sent to me by George Saunders after we discussing school photos.
Problem we have is that whilst we know the faces we don’t  know (can’t remember) all the names,(old age??) following is what we have.
Left to right
Back Row U-U-U-U-Robert Wetherill-U-Lenny Cooper-U

2nd Row John Toomey-Brian Cashen-U-Eddie Cooper-U-Geoff Griffiths-U-U

3rd Row U-George Saunders-Ronnie Moor-Dave Townsin-U-Bert Butcher-U-U

Front Row U-Ron Stamp ???-U-U-U-U-U

Whilst the board is there cant see a date but believe 1952-1953.

If anyone can add/confirm names or confirm the date that would be great.

best regards
Rob Wetherill

If you recognize yourself or friends please contact me with the names

Did you grow up in South Harrow or Rayners Lane
www.syddean.co.uk
This website is for people and about people who lived and grew up in the South Harrow and Rayners Lane Areas of Middlesex.
(Some Folk still live in the area, so it may be easier for you to remember your earlier days growing up)
You can send in text and pictures which will be put on this site and then later this year (hopefully) turned into a book.
You can include schooldays, after leaving school and starting work or going onto further education.
Any clubs you were in, social, sports clubs or the Army Cadet Force, Air Training Corps & Naval Cadets.
Perhaps the Girl Guides, Scouts or Cubs, Church Lads Brigade, or the Boy’s Brigade, which later included Girls as well.
Saturday morning Cinema clubs?
Just put your thinking caps on, and get those, memories flowing.
Where did you live? which school did you attend?, which Pub did you make your local as soon as you could look when you would appear to be of legal age...........................
These are the type of questions people ask one another when they meet up after many years
I am waiting to hear from you either by email or telephone.
I would hope to be making a book of between 250 & 350 A5 pages.
Everyone who contributes will retain their copyright; this is stated on the site and will be in the book, which is a non-profit project and sold to contributors at cost price.
I am standing by fingers hovering over the keyboard..............................

You can ring either 01702 231320 or 01702 519469

Cheers............

I was very grateful to receive the following information from;
ICT Manager, Achievement & Inclusion Service, Children's Service, LB Harrow
This is from the new LGfL StaffMail service

The Roxeth Manor primary schools merging (from September) will be called Heathland School.
The secondary school (Rooks Heath) has a new frontage which was built to make room for the sixth form (two years ago) and additional pupils when the age of transfer changes in September 2010.

A Letter From Joan Richardson

Hi! Syd and Joy

I heard have heard that they will be changing the name of Roxeth Manor school to Heathlands in September. I think its a bit sad, It was suggested to name it Eastcote Lane but they have decided Heathlands. I feel the name of Roxeth will die out from this area. I know Roxeth goes back as far as early AD, when the Romans were around I bet the ones who have said Heathlands don't know the history of the area.
I should be interested in what you and other old pupils of the old school think .
Would it be any good writing and complaining about the new name and put in suggestions of our own .
The old Eastcote Lane Seniors is really being altered .I can't see from the front what they are doing but it looks as if they are building more in the front part .

Also the old bridge has gone at Northolt Park Station and has been replaced by a much much wider one, I personally think its to wide and has altered the area a lot. But then a lot of younger people think its better. Guess I am a bit sentimental having been born around here.

Kind regards to you both From Joan and ken .

PS My daughters loved the book they read it whenever they come by
