Site History

Having attended Eastcote Lane School from the age of three years & nine months until I was fourteen when I left and started work, I was looking on Friends Reunited Website when I thought it would be a good idea to try and set up a site called Eastcote Lane School.
This I did and put a note on Friends Reunited in my personal column about it and very soon People were writing to me with their memories.
My Wife and I were in the process of setting up a Reunion for the Dean Family and I mentioned this to Dawn in Texas who I had met through the Friends site and she said how nice it would be to have a reunion for ex-pupils of Eastcote lane.
So after thinking about it Joy and I thought that we could incorporate the Family and School for a reunion together.
It took nearly two years to organise but in 2002 we had our reunion in the October and it was well attended with Folk who had been at the School and our Family and they had a great time at the Novotel in Stevenage Hertfordshire, which was the only Hotel where they could cater for what we wanted.
We had almost a hundred rooms for the weekend and the Staff were very good and went out of their way to make it a good stay for everyone.
Joy and I went to the School and they lent us all the Log Books that had been hand written by the Head teachers from when the School opened in 1933 until 1985 when the computer took over the work.
These were all put on display at the reunion and Joy also copied out all the writing in them so I could put it on the Eastcote Lane site and later make into a book called ‘The Early Years’ there was also a lot of Photographs that the School and ex-Pupils loaned me to use.
I have now refurbished the Eastcote Lane site with an entirely different look and I really hope that more People will get involved and add to the content with their ideas to make it an interesting site for everyone to view.
I would be pleased to have your thoughts and comments on the site, you can contact me at contacts@eastcotelane.co.uk ©eastcotelane2008
